april 19, part 2

Today the butterflies were gorgeous as was the whole ride. wonderful country roads, lots of them through desoto national park. nice roads, occasional headwinds but mostly tailwinds. some really nice things happened today. lynn and I stopped for lunch at a gas station/food mart where I saw the bags of crawfish in the picture in part 1.I looked at them and told lynn I thought they were shrimp. a local man corrected me and started explaining all about crawfish and how they are harvested. we thanked him for the info and then ordered our lunch. when they called our names for us to pick it up at the counter, the lady said the man had already paid for it! he was so kind! after lunch we rode farther and came to the MS sandhill crane national wildlife preserve. of course I went in. the people at the visitor's center took a long time explaining everything to me. very, very interesting.learned that they do a lot of controlled burning to maintain ecological balance.rode farther over that high bridge in part 1 to pascagoula.70 miles today. tomorrow only 40 to dauphin island, alabama for easter sunday and a day of rest._____________war ein toller tag. ein mann, der uns alles ueber crawfish erklaert hat, hat unser mittagsessen bezaehlt. war unheimlich net. danach habe ich ein reservat fuer kraniche besucht. war sehr interessant. morgen und uebermorgen sind wir auf dauphin islands, alabama. nur 40 meilen.
